At Student Support Services our goals include ensuring the academic success of all students, facilitating reasonable accommodations for any student who has an identified disability, and by providing academic support to any students who needs it.

Are you interested in attending free seminars on such topics as work ethics, etiquette, self-esteem, time management and marketing?  The Career and Support Services office, under the direction of Dr. Lois King, provides a variety of services for students.  The Career and Support Services office is located in the Miles Building on the first floor and is open daily for your convenience.  To schedule an appointment please call 978-368-2229.

The Center for Academic Success, under the direction of Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson, provides support to students who need academic assistance.  They provide in-house testing for all freshmen students and remediation classes in Reading and Academic Success for those identified as needing additional assistance.  To find out more information please call 978-368-2417.

The following services area available through the Center for Academic Success:

  •   Assistance in obtaining disability-related support services and accommodations
  •   Critical thinking skill building
  •   Independent Skill Development Plan
  •   Individualized testing to pinpoint learning strengths and weaknesses
  •   One-on-one tutoring with a learning specialist
  •   Reading skill building – reading speak, comprehension, and vocabulary  development
  •   Remediation classes in Reading and Academic Success
  •   Skills building lab
  •   Study and test taking skill development
  •  Test preparation assistance for the CPT, MCAT and DAT exams
  •  Visual and auditory perception and memory development

 

  • Each department provides tutoring to students who request assistance.  Please contact your instructor or the department chair for more information regarding specific tutors or to identify class study groups.

 


The Writing Center, located on the second floor of the G. Eric Jones Library, is designed to assist students’ writing papers.  When using this service please remember to bring the draft of your paper and the writing assignment instructions.  The center is under the supervision of the English department faculty and is staffed by English majors.
